Every year BrazilFoundation issues a Call for Proposals on its website inviting Brazilian organizations to submit projects for grant support; the objective is to identify initiatives among small and medium-sized non-profit organizations that bring creative solutions to challenges faced by communities throughout Brazil.
BrazilFoundation supports social projects in five thematic areas: Education, Health, Human Rights, Participatory Development, and Culture.
Organizations submit project proposals within the Request for Proposals submission period.
BrazilFoundation analysts review project proposals and select project finalists.
BrazilFoundation analysts make site visits to project finalists in order to assess the conditions for implementing the proposed project and to ensure the criteria above are met. Site visits are made possible with the generous support of TAM Airlines.
Following site visits, BrazilFoundation conducts a final review, and approved projects receive support for the duration of one year.
Grantee projects are monitored and evaluated throughout the one-year grant process.
Ongoing assistance is also offered to the grantees to support them during the life of the grant, maximizing the projects' community impact.
The Foundation offers workshops to 2 leaders from each funded project to develop the tools and skills required to ensure the effectiveness of their projects. Workshop topics include legal assistance, strategic planning, management, fundraising and sustainability, networking, and communications.
BrazilFoundation promotes theater presentations at the beginning of the workshops as a strategy to introduce topics that will be discussed. The presentations have proven to be a valuable tool to build awareness among project leaders.
